A few days before the celebrations for the Italian Republic Day on June 2, Faber GmbH, general importer of the Piaggio Group in Austria, handed over a customized Vespa to the Italian embassy in Vienna. The model was designed with the tricolor, the coat of arms of the Italian Republic, and the logo of the embassy. The handover of the unique model took place on May 20, 2025 at Palais Metternich in the presence of Ambassador Giovanni Pugliese and Josef Faber, CEO of Faber GmbH, in a festive setting.
The Vespa, one of the world’s best-known ambassadors of the Italian lifestyle and Italian design art, has stood for style, innovation and quality for over 75 years. Probably the most famous scooter brand in the world also has tens of thousands of fans in Austria. Today, the Vespa is regarded as a design and two-wheeler icon that has transcended several generations and countless borders with its charm and unique, likeable charisma. Typical Italian values such as creativity, innovative spirit and ingenious craftsmanship “Made in Italy” were combined in a vehicle concept that continues to make history.
“With its history and unmistakable design, the Vespa tells the story of an Italy that loves to travel, combines tradition and innovation and inspires different cultures with Italian style and genius,” said Ambassador Giovanni Pugliese at the handover ceremony. “It is an honor to receive the new Vespa in time for June 2nd, the day we celebrate the birth of the Republic and the fundamental values of our national identity.”
Vespa as a sympathetic ambassador for Italy

Serving for two years
The Vespa will be used by the Italian diplomatic representation for a period of two years under a concession from Faber, in particular for institutional events and occasions at which the many advantages of Italy are to be promoted.
